BawBaw’s BBQ was born out of faith, family, and a whole lot of patience.

Jimmy’s love for barbecue started long before there was a restaurant — and long before he ever built his own pit. He learned the old-fashioned way, cooking wherever he could, studying the craft, testing recipes, and tending fires late into the night. He wasn’t in a hurry. He wanted to get it just right.

He kept cooking until his recipes were perfect.

If a rub wasn’t balanced, he adjusted it. If a sauce wasn’t just right, he started over. He believed great barbecue couldn’t be rushed — and neither could the process of perfecting it.

Eventually, that dedication led him to build his own pit in the backyard. Using scrap farm parts and whatever metal he could get his hands on, Jimmy welded together something that didn’t look like much at first — but it carried a dream. That homemade pit became the heart of our home. Smoke rising into the sky. Family gathered close. Prayers spoken over full plates.

From that backyard pit came more than just good barbecue — it started a tradition.

For over 20 years, our Fourth of July cookouts brought friends, family, and neighbors together. Everyone knew where to show up. The fire would be going early, the tables would be lined up, and the smell of slow-smoked meat would drift through the air long before the fireworks began. Those cookouts weren’t just celebrations — they were the beginning of BawBaw’s.

We believe the Lord blesses faithful hands and patient hearts. BawBaw’s BBQ is proof that when you trust God, work hard, and stay steady, He can build something beautiful from humble beginnings — even from scrap metal and a backyard full of smoke.

Our son has grown up watching that smoke rise and learning that “low and slow” isn’t just how we cook — it’s how we live. Every recipe we serve was perfected at our own family table first. If it’s not good enough for our family, it’s not good enough for yours.
